Ambedkar Jayanti: Date, significance and inspiring quotes

If a discussion is running with the Indian Constitution, a name, Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar should be recalled. It is 14th April, when every year on this day, “Ambedkar Jayanti” is celebrated everywhere to give a special honor to him. 

It was on 14th April, 1981 when Dr. BR. Ambedkar was born in Madhya Pradesh’s Mhow. Ambedkar’s birth anniversary is celebrated as a public holiday from 2015 to honour his countless contributions behind making the Independent present-day India. He was the real champion in the fight of Dalits to give them actual rights.

Prime Minister Modi shared a video on Twitter saying, “A humble tribute to Babasaheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar on his birth anniversary from all the countrymen.” In the video, the PM can be seen unveiling a statue of Dr. Ambedkar.

The “Ambedkar Jayanti” also named as”Bhim Jayanti” as well. He passed doctorates in economics from Colombia University and the London School of Economics. He was brilliant in Law, as well as in economics and political science.

In general, Dr. Ambedkar is known also as Babasaheb so, after getting the doctorate Babasaheb became a key advocate for independence from the British rule. Then he advocated for the Dalit rights. His contribution is everywhere now-days, like the establishment of the state of India and the foundation of Reserve Bank Of India. In 1956 he converted to Buddhism.

The famous creation of “The Buddha and his Dhamma” was written by him. In 1956, after the three days of completion of the book, he died on 6th Dec from suffering from diabetes. Br.Ambedkar was selected for the country’s highest civilian honor, “Bharat Ratna” in 1990. It was his 129th birthday anniversary, but any Indian can’t avoid his ambition, spirit till now.

He along with Mahatma Gandhi fought against the superstition of the society and erased the untouchability concept from the Indian society. He protested against all false justice faced by the backward castes in India. 

For this purpose, the govt. of India enacted the “Prevention Of the Atrocity” act (POA) on March 31, 1995, but the same injustice is running against the Dalit people till now in the society. Domestic financial markets remain shut on 14th April for the Ambedkar Jayanti as well as the last day of 21-day lockdown phage to break the spreading power of coronavirus. 

So, This is a very tough situation for every Indians. But, on the 129th ‘Ambedkar Jayanti”, we may learn from his fighting spirit and get some boosts to fight against the coronavirus together And we can tell together, “We  Shall Overcome Someday”.
